GE CJ-610 Turbojet Engine
GE CJ-610 Turbojet Engine
This project explores the design of the General Electric CJ-610 turbojet engine. It serves as a case study to explore the possibilities of presenting complex machinery with 3D renders.

Technical References
At the start of each project, it's important to gather as many technical and creative references as possible.
It is at this point that we also determine the goals of the project and the level of detail and quality needed to achieve those goals. When working in 3D, the amount of detail achievable in a model is virtually endless. To manage budget, it’s important to find a balance between detail and project goals. Something we have mastered over 8 years of working on a limited budget in the world of YouTube documentary filmmaking.

Working with Engineering CAD Models
Most projects start with a 3D model of the hero asset. This can either be supplied by the client or made by us. These can be models from programs like SolidWorks, SiemensNX, Fusion360, Rhino, or any similar software. However, there is often a barrier between technical drawing software and creative rendering software. We have several methods to convert these from one to the other, thus making it possible to create high-detail models with realistic materials.

Material texturing brings models to life. Depending on the needs of each project, we either use an extensive library of materials or make our own custom materials. For highly realistic models, we use custom-painted materials.
This project used our extensive library of pre-made materials to reduce cost and delivery lead time.

We aren’t just animators, we are engineers too. We use our engineering background to ensure our 3D models are mechanically accurate to create scientifically accurate animations.
